It’s that time of year again. Time to frantically run around town to find that perfect gift; time to send those final emails for 2018; and, my least favourite – the never ending quest to find a car space at the local shopping centre.
For a lot of us, the countdown to Christmas can be stressful, but the excitement of seeing family and friends, gorging on delicious food and sipping on that ice-cold G&T more than make up for the negative experiences.
Unfortunately for some of us, this negativity does not dissipate. It’s a ticking clock deep in your subconscious filled with worry, fear and guilt.
It's called domestic violence.
One in three women will experience it, and it is the leading cause of homelessness among women and children. Yet, even in 2018, the subject of domestic violence continues to be kept under a veil of secrecy and shame.
This Christmas morning, many women who live with domestic violence will wake up to no gifts and no sense of hope for the new year ahead. That’s where New Day Box comes in.
New Day Box is an initiative, both simple and powerful, that supports women in crisis accommodation. It’s their mission to provide women with that glimmer of hope and excitement this Christmas morning.
How does it work? Easy! Fill a shoebox with skincare, cosmetics and treats, drop it off the New Day Box headquarters or collection depot and make a difference in someone's life.
This year, the team at Think Talent have done exactly that. We have abandoned the Kris Kringle tradition and instead have put our dollars towards creating some amazing and fun New Day Boxes for women in need.
